The Perfect Couple: Greatest Rock Duos

From The Last Shadow Puppets and The White Stripes, to The Chemical Brothers and Slaves, we suggest recalling some of the greatest rock duets.

The last shadow shadow puppets
Former member of The Rascals and ringleader of Arctic Monkeys joined forces in 2008 to record The Age Of The Understatement. According to producer and drummer James Ford, their new album is already ready and will be released in April 2016.

Royal blood
Royal Blood is armed only with a bass player (Mike Kerr) and a drummer (Ben Thatcher). How they make loud music is still a mystery (for people who don’t understand anything about guitar effects).

The black keys
Carney Patrick and Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys began their career in 2001 and only recently released their eighth album, “Turn Blue”. Too many tracks were recorded by two guys in such a short time. And it is commendable.

MGMT
By returning the psychedelic to a place in the sun, MGMTs became popular. Electric Feel, Time To Pretend, and Kids are still the hymns of some festivals. They are also known for their strange spontaneity at concerts, for example, urged the audience to throw shoes at them … the guys soon realized that their “spontaneity” was a bad idea.

The white stripes
Jack and Meg White claimed to be brother and sister, but turned out to be husband and wife. Their unusual guitar and drum blues became recognizable in 2001 after the release of their third album “White Blood Cells”, but, unfortunately, they decided to leave the music industry in 2011.

McAlmont & Butler
Bernard Butler and David Macalmont from different groups (Butler from Suede; Macalmont from Thieves), but they created the duo in 1994. Together they wrote such famous classic Brit-pop hits as “Yes” and “You Do”.

Goldfrapp
Despite the fact that beauty Alison is in the spotlight, the Golfrapp is actually a duet. And Will is not only a producer, but also her musical partner.

Drenge
Drenge is a duet of two brothers: Owen (guitar, vocals) and Rory Loveless (drums). With the unusual name of the group, the guys create good tracks. In 2014, they made their debut with positive reviews.

Daft punk
Famous Guy Manuel de Omem Cristo and Thomas Bangalter conquered the music world with their electro funk.

The ting tings
This couple became famous thanks to the hit “That’s Not My Name”. Their debut album “We Started Nothing” hit the players of more than a million listeners.

Flight of the conchords
A folk group from New Zealand Flight Of The Conchords was remembered for its comic songs. And Bret Mackenzie received an Oscar for the track for the movie The Muppets in 2011.

Air
The French duo Air are yet another electronica on our list. Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunkel created hits such as “Sexy Boy” and “All I Need”.

Electronic
The only super duet on our list is Electronic. Johnny Marr of The Smiths and Bernard Summer of Joy Division and New Order are perfect for each other. Together they released three albums. Officially, they did not break up, but Mara’s solo career and the return of New Order stopped the duo.

Empire Of The Sun
The Australian duo Empire Of The Sun became famous for their unusual style in music and clothing. The guys came from different groups. Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore of Pnau. Surely you heard their hits “Walking On A Dream” and “We Are The People”.

Hurts
Theo and Adam met near a club in Manchester after they saw that their friends were fighting. But instead of retaliating, they decided to talk about music. And later, in 2006, the Hurts appeared. They released three albums and hits such as “Wonderful Life” and “Miracle”.

The chemical brothers
The duet is considered one of the best electronic projects. And five albums included in the lists of the best, collaboration with Noel Gallagher and even speaking at Glastenbury as headliners confirm the above.

Tenacious d
Tenacious D combined comedy and glam rock. In addition to three albums, Jack Black and Kyle Gass also made a film. Even when Jack promotes an acting career in Hollywood, he still finds time for a duo hygiene.

The kills
Great garage rock. American singer Alison Mosshart and British guitarist Jamie Hins have four albums in their discography.

Chase & status
Promoting drum and bass, Chase & Status began working with influential artists such as Plan B and Rihanna. And now they are considered one of the best DJ duets in the world.

Crystal castles
Canadian Crystal Castles have been a cult since they released their album in 2008. In 2010, they worked with Robert Smith of The Cure on the famous hit “Not In Love”.

Death From Above 1979
Punk rock duet from Toronto, consisting of Sebastian Granger on drums and Jesse F. Keeler on bass giatra. Releasing only one album, “You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine,” they split up in 2006 and returned to music in 2011.

Slaves
The new British punk duo was born in 2012. Lori Vincent (guitar, bass, vocals) and Isaac Holman (drums, vocals) released their debut album “Are You Satisfied?” In 2015.
